In this workshop, we will explore creative and reactive leadership using real-world challenges. You will learn why it’s not about one of these being right and one of these being wrong (surprise!), but rather knowing where you are at any given moment. And then, we can be intentional in our choices and take responsibility for our impact.
As Scrum Masters and agile leaders, we face unique challenges:
-
We are leading in complex and unpredictable environments. There are few “right” answers, and we cannot guarantee outcomes. Yet people are looking to us as experts who should have all the answers.
-
We know that shifting mindsets, changing culture, and learning new skills and approaches to our work takes time. But our managers want results now.
-
We are trying to empower and support self-managing teams while bumping up against culture and process challenges in the wider organization that often feel like they are working directly against us.
- We need conflict in order to explore different ideas, be inclusive of more perspectives, and discover innovative solutions. Yet we often experience the extremes of artificial harmony or unproductive conflict. Helping teams find that sweet spot of constructive conflict is no easy task.
Does this sound familiar?
There are no silver bullets to solve these challenges magically.
However, understanding creative leadership versus reactive leadership is the most critical tool to help you navigate these challenges more effectively and confidently.
Creative leadership is what enables greater transparency, so we can see what is REALLY going on. We want to see through the noise, stop chasing symptoms, and get to root causes, while making intentional choices to proactively focus our time and energy to support our teams best.
And the bonus is that how you show up will influence how your team and the stakeholders you interact with are showing up.
